The best places to eat and drink for a fun date night in Austin, TX — The live music capital of the world 🎶

Austin holds a very special place in my heart. I lived in Austin for many years while I went to school at Texas State. Even after graduating, as a young professional, I still called the city home. I fell in love in Austin, with my now husband, Allen. This post was particularly tough for me to write because it’s difficult to narrow down the most romantic things to do in this beautiful city.

One of the top things to do while visiting Austin is definitely paddle boarding. For this date night idea, we used Live Love Paddle which rents boards on an hourly basis.

Depending on what weather Texas is having that day, this could be an all-day event or just a few of hours. We rented the boards for two hours each. Nothing beats seeing your s/o struggle to balance on the board or just fall into the water multiple times. This adventure makes for a great bonding experience.

For a fancy dinner date, Trulucks downtown is hands down, one of the most upscale restaurants in the area that offers incredible views. Their seafood options change seasonally but you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. They even provide an essential oil diffused washcloth after you eat. It doesn’t get fancier than that in my book. Pro-tip: Order the lobster mashed potatoes.

To end your fancy date night, I chose the famous, Coconut Club located directly across the street from Trulucks. This iconic bar, located right on the lively and fun 4th street, doesn’t only provide picturesque, neon decor, but great music for dancing the night away or just soaking up some Austin rooftop views with bae.
