How to: Mexican Shrimp Tostadas
These shrimp tostadas are the perfect and refreshing summer dish.
They can be made in a few minutes or even prepared overnight to enjoy the next day. The toppings below are more traditional options but feel free to remove or add more to your taste!
Here’s a video of how I make them!
You’ll need:
1 lb of fresh uncooked shrimp, peeled and deveined
2 roma tomatoes (diced)
1 jalapeno (diced)
1 lime
½ red onion (diced)
½ cup of cilantro
2 avocados
Cotija cheese (crumbled)
1 packet of tostadas
Salt and pepper
How to:
- Rise your shrimp under cold water and pat dry. Next, season generously with salt and pepper.
- In a medium frying pan, add a tablespoon of olive oil. Let the shrimp cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side until pink and then remove from heat.
- Next, prepare your guacamole by adding avocados, lime juice and a handful of the diced ingredients. This ensures the ingredients hold together and don’t fall out while you eat! Add salt and pepper to taste.
- Finally, the plating. Spread your guac somewhat evenly over the tostada. Add the shrimp and your desired toppings.
- Finish off with cotija cheese, lime juice and a little sea salt.
Enjoy!
