A delicious vegan alternative to a classic Mexican beverage โ€” horchata! The dairy-free milk can be substituted with your favorite milk beverage.

The recipe ๐Ÿงพ 

The Ingredients:

  • 1 + 1/2 cup of long grain white rice

  • 1/2 almonds (slivered)

  • 6 cups of water

  • 4 cinnamon sticks

  • 2 tbs of vanilla extract

Let these soak overnight or at least for 5 hours.

The next day:

Blend well using a blender.

Strain through a fine mesh strainer (rinse and wipe strainer as needed). This part can be very time-consuming but definitely worth it.

Next, add your favorite milk ๐Ÿฅ› I used Simply Almond (to make it #vegan + #dairy free) but traditionally the recipe calls for whole milk + evaporated milk.

OPTIONAL: You can add sugar or sweet condensed milk your sweetness preference ๐Ÿฌ 

Stir well + over ice and enjoy!
